Crime report: Man robbed at gunpoint in garage under Kepler's Crime report: Man robbed at gunpoint in garage under Kepler's (August 03, 2005)

An older man was robbed of his wallet at gunpoint in the parking garage beneath Kepler's bookstore in Menlo Park at about 9 p.m. Monday, July 25, said Sgt. Mike Amaral of the Menlo Park Police Department.

The police did not issue a press release -- the normal practice for an armed robbery -- because the victim delayed reporting the robbery to police and could not provide a description of the robber, said Sgt. Amaral.
Robbed while filling up

In a strong-arm robbery, a man grabbed a purse from the shoulder of a woman who was filling up her vehicle's gas tank at the Chevron station at the corner of Willow Road and Hamilton Avenue in Menlo Park at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 22, said Sgt. Mike Amaral of the Menlo Park Police Department.

The woman struggled to hold on to her purse, police said, but the robber prevailed and ran off with it. The purse was found with all its contents about a block away. The woman complained of some lower back pain, police said.
Victimized while shopping

A thief, apparently waiting for an opportunity for a woman who was grocery shopping to look away, stole her wallet from her purse, which was sitting open in her grocery cart at the Safeway at 500 El Camino Real in Menlo Park, said Sgt. Mike Amaral of the Menlo Park Police Department.

The theft occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Friday, July 22. The woman's wallet contained credit cards and about $30 in cash, police said.
