Restaurant robbed at gunpoint Restaurant robbed at gunpoint (August 24, 2005)

Two masked men, one of whom was carrying a small semi-automatic pistol, got away with an undisclosed amount of cash after robbing Jonathan's Fish and Chips restaurant at 840 Willow Road in Menlo Park at around 10:45 a.m. Friday, August 19.

The men took cash from the two women working there and a cell phone from a man encountered in the alley behind the restaurant, said Officer Louis Tommei of the Menlo Park Police Department.

The men, described as African American, were last seen running south on Chester Street, police said. Police arrived within minutes, Officer Tommei said, and were assisted by officers from Palo Alto and the K-9 unit from the county Sheriff's Office.

One suspect was said to be 22 to 26 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 165 pounds, and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, black jeans and black gloves. The other suspect was described as 19 to 23 years old, stocky, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 170 pounds, with short, black, braided hair and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call Officer John Del Mundo or Officer Louis Tommei at 330-6300. The anonymous tip line is 330-6395.
