Menlo Watch: City helps residents prepare for disaster
(September 28, 2005) To help people prepare for and respond to a natural or manmade disaster, the Menlo Park Police Department has released a manual titled "It's Up to You for 72." The publication tells what people can do during the first 72 hours after disaster strikes -- when they may be on their own.
Residents can obtain the manual from the police department by calling 330-6300. To view or download it, go to www.menlopark.org, and in the "Quick Links" bar, select "Emergencies."
Councils meet on creek flood control
Three city councils -- from Menlo Park, East Palo Alto, and Palo Alto -- will meet jointly October 5 in a study session and discuss the timeline for a flood-control plan for San Francisquito Creek.
The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. in the East Palo Alto council chambers at 2415 University Ave.
Representatives of the San Mateo County Flood Control District and Santa Clara Valley Water district will also participate.
The flood-control plan is expected to be completed by 2012.
