Portola Valley council acts on Town Center, tax
(October 12, 2005) The Portola Valley Town Council voted 4-1 on September 28 to certify the final environmental impact report for the Town Center rebuild and to approve the conceptual site plan for the project. Councilman Richard Merk voted no, citing concerns of constituents who don't like the design, the layout and the extensive changes to the Town Center.
The council also enacted a policy that restricts spending of money from the 5.5 percent utility tax to the following: public roads, law enforcement, trails, parks, fields, insurance, animal control services, and town commissions and advisory committees.
