Woman robbed, sexually assaulted Woman robbed, sexually assaulted (October 12, 2005)

Menlo Park police are searching for a man accused of sexually assaulting and robbing a Flood Triangle resident on October 3.

A man claiming to have car problems approached a woman around 8 a.m. as she was taking out her trash. She offered to help jumpstart his car, but he entereded her vehicle and demanded money from her, the victim told the Almanac. The suspect then forced her to drive back to her home, according to Menlo Park police Sgt. Jim Simpson.

He followed her into her house, took money from her, and then sexually assaulted her, Sgt. Simpson said.

The woman escaped when the man began searching through her purse. She ran to the neighbor's house and called police, Sgt. Simpson said.

Menlo Park and Atherton police officers and San Mateo County sheriff's deputies searched her home and the nearby area, but didn't find the suspect, who is described as a bald black man between the ages of 30 and 40 and 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall.

Anyone with information is asked to call Menlo Park police's investigations unit at 330-6300.
