Menlo Watch: Drop-off day set for hazardous waste Menlo Watch: Drop-off day set for hazardous waste (October 19, 2005)

On Saturday, November 12, residents of Menlo Park, Redwood City, East Palo Alto, Atherton, Portola Valley and Woodside may take household hazardous wastes to a Menlo Park site free of charge.

Materials accepted include paint, paint thinner, varnish, cleaning solvents, swimming pool chemicals, pesticides, batteries, motor oil, propane tanks and gasoline.

Materials not accepted include business waste, radioactive waste, medical waste, explosives, asbestos, appliances and tires.

To make an appointment, call (650) 363-4718 (24 hours a day) or go to www.smhealth.org/events.

Appointments are limited, so early registration is recommended.

The Department of Transportation prohibits the transporting of more than 10 gallons of liquid waste or 50 pounds of solid waste. Residents who have more waste than is legally transportable are encouraged to make more than one appointment.
Grade-separation review postponed

A review of Caltrain grade-separation alternatives tentatively scheduled for October 18 will now take place at a future council meeting. The date is yet to be announced.
