M-A cross coach Kelly Weston is honored
(October 19, 2005) Kelly Weston, assistant cross country coach at Menlo-Atherton High School, has been selected as the 2005-2006 Central Coast Section honor coach by the California Interscholastic Federation.
He and M-A principal Norman Estrada are invited to an awards presentation breakfast at 8 a.m. Thursday, October 20, at the East Side Union High School District in San Jose.
"Kelly is finally being recognized for all that he has given the sport of cross-country," says Plato Yanicks, former Menlo-Atherton coach.
Weston is the real reason for the distance running success at M-A, says Yanicks.
"He trains and befriends his runners year-round, driving them to the hills for strenuous long-distance runs at his own expense and time," says Yanicks. "For two decades he has been the inspiration and driving force behind great individuals and teams that have been dominant in distance running on the Peninsula."
