Web site helps seniors, disabled Web site helps seniors, disabled (October 26, 2005)

Seniors, people with disabilities, people with mental or behavioral problems, and their families and caregivers in San Mateo County now have a Web site that gives information on a wide variety of services to help them deal with their problems.

"The Network of Care will be a tremendous asset to our community," said Lisa Mancini, director of the county's Aging and Adult Services. "It will provide another avenue for seniors and people with disabilities to obtain needed services."

A separate category at the new Web site -- sanmateo.networkofcare.org -- allows people to access information on services for mental or behavioral health.

The county's aging and adult services department also operates a 24-hour TIES phone line to provide information, advice and emergency response. The line is staffed by social workers and public health nurses trained to help people remain safe. The TIES number is 1-800-675-8437.
