Books, bookcase given to Haven House Books, bookcase given to Haven House (October 26, 2005)

The Kiwanis Club of Menlo Park has teamed up with Bring Me a Book Foundation to give a maple bookcase filled with 30 to 35 English and Spanish language children's books to Haven House, a shelter for homeless families at 260 Van Buren Road in Menlo Park.

Haven House is part of Shelter Network, a nonprofit agency that provides transitional housing, food and counseling services to homeless families in San Mateo County.

The Kiwanis Club has a long relationship with Haven House. Its members helped build the house's playground and, for a time, helped procure food from Second Harvest Food Bank.

Bring Me a Book Foundation, based in Mountain View, is an early-literacy organization that encourages parents and teachers to read aloud to young children.
