Portola Valley: Saturday is town cleanup day Portola Valley: Saturday is town cleanup day (October 26, 2005)

Portola Valley residents will have the opportunity to donate or dispose of many household items at the town's annual fall cleanup day on Saturday, October 29, from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Town Center at 765 Portola Road.

Items that can be donated to Goodwill Industries include clothing, artworks, small to mid-size area rugs, books, toys, bicycles, and backpacking equipment.

Such items intended for disposal will also be accepted, plus wood waste, yard waste, small amounts of concrete, rock and dirt, appliances other than refrigerators or freezers, and scrap metal.

Residents intending to use the disposal bins must prove residency, either with a copy of the cleanup day flier received in the mail or a copy of a garbage bill.

The event is not intended for large pieces of plate glass, tires, material normally put in recycling bins, batteries, pesticides, flammable liquids, gasoline-powered equipment or greasy machine parts.

For more information, call Barbara Powell at 851-1700, ext. 18, or e-mail her at bpowell@portolavalley.net.
