Pop Warner football: Vikings beat fog and Pacifica Tiger Sharks
(October 26, 2005) With Peninsula Conference playoffs looming, Menlo-Atherton Vikings Pop Warner teams appeared to be hitting their stride on Saturday, October 22, during a series of games with the Pacifica Tiger Sharks at fog-shrouded Terra Nova High School.

Rebounding from their only loss of the season, the Vikings navigated the Pacifica mist for a resounding 30-6 win over the host Tiger Sharks, overcoming a 6-0 deficit with five unanswered touchdowns.
Ryan Roberts took the kickoff back 70 yards to even the score, the first of his four touchdowns behind a dominant offensive line. Kent Kober, Ben Chilton, Stephen Chu, Maddie Tarr and Thomas Johnson supplied crushing blocks, and Kober returned a Shark fumble 25 yards.
Peter Bouret scored on a long punt return, and picked off his seventh interception of the season.
On defense, Austin Wilson, Isiah Nash, Adam Greenlow, Jack Posthauer and Chu had outstanding games.

A new offensive combination featuring Landon Baty at quarterback and Patrick Bruni at tailback sparked the Vikings to their most impressive output of the year as they rolled into the playoffs with a 27-0 victory over the Tiger Sharks.
M-A touchdowns came from Bruni (4-yard run), Ryan Gaertner (10-yard double reverse), Keenan Gates (61-yard run) and Andre Guzman (30-yard interception return).
Baty and Bruni ran for extra points, and Baty threw a conversion pass to Alex Andrighetto. Solid defensive plays from Bruni, Andrighetto, Jake Britschgi and Bryan Rodgers stymied the Tiger Shark attack.

Crafting a satisfactory finish to a roller-coaster season, the Vikings crushed Pacifica 32-6 behind Travis McHugh's 200-yard rushing effort.
Effective passing by McHugh and Tommy Cummings led to key receptions by brothers Jesse and Christian Perkins, and Sean Barrett. Barrett and Sam Carver intercepted Tiger Shark passes, and Joel Santana and Paul Wescott contributed critical defensive plays.
Coaching plaudits went to cornerback Matthew McNamara, plus linemen Michael Fraser, Nolan Fallon, Ben Hadrovic, Conrad Forster, Mark Johnson and Shane Artim.
