(November 02, 2005) News about elections in local towns -- including Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Atherton, Portola Valley and Woodside -- came be found online.
Go to PaloAltoOnline.com, and click on the Election 2005 link.
Scroll down to the Almanac Voter Guide 2005 and click on it for information on elections in Atherton, Menlo Park, Portola Valley and Woodside.
Under the heading Information Links are links to many election sites including the League of Women Voters' smartvoter.org, which provides comprehensive information on local races and issues as well as state ballot measures.
On that site, you can enter your address and get specific information about elections on your ballot, including the address of your polling place. Clicking on the address will produce a Yahoo map with directions from your home to your polling place.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. election day, Tuesday, November 8.
Election night
On election night, local results will be updated continuously on PaloAltoOnline.
You can sign up for e-bulletins, which will be e-mailed to you when there is a clear outcome to a local race. Go to PaloAltoOnline.com and scroll down to the link: Palo Alto Online E-Bulletins. Here you can sign up to receive these and other breaking news e-mails.
Post-election reports will be posted Tuesday on PaloAltoOnline and on Wednesday on both AlmanacNews.com and PaloAltoOnline.com.
