Amir Bashti of Menlo Park was crowned a national champion in his age group at the Sierra Mist Dribble, Pass & Score soccer championships, held November 12 in Frisco, Texas.

Amir, 8, was the winner of the boys 8-9 division in his first season with the organization. Amir enjoys playing chess and backgammon, as well as soccer.

The 24 finalists from around the country earned expense-paid trips to Texas for the national finals after advancing past three previous levels of competition. The program, founded in 1998, is designed for players ages 6-14 to improve their skills in dribbling, passing and shooting.
