Truck fire slows traffic on I-280 Truck fire slows traffic on I-280 (December 14, 2005)

In what appeared to be a solo vehicle accident, a gardener's truck loaded with yard debris and gardening equipment overturned shortly after 8:30 a.m. Monday, December 12, on Interstate 280 near Sand Hill Road. Spilled fuel caught fire, burning the vehicle and the debris and closing three southbound lanes for about two hours.

Firefighters from the Woodside Fire Protection District and the Palo Alto Fire Department responded and put the fire out in about 10 minutes, said Captain Jeff Scott of the Woodside fire district. The driver, who was alone in the truck, appeared to be unhurt, Capt. Scott said.
