Concert to benefit chamber music program Concert to benefit chamber music program (February 08, 2006)

A concert to benefit the Music@Menlo chamber music scholarship program will be performed at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, February 12, at Menlo School in Atherton.

The featured performer is pianist Wu Han, who with her husband David Finckel founded Music@Menlo several years ago. She will perform with young musicians who have participated in the Music@Menlo chamber music student program: violinists Korbinian Altenberger and Joanna Kaczorowska, violist David Kim, cellist David Requiro, and pianist Peter Asimov.

The concert program includes works by Mozart, Chopin, Faure and Shostakovich.

A reception will follow the concert, which will be in the Spieker Ballroom at Menlo School, 50 Valparaiso Ave.

Tickets are $45, and may be purchased by calling 725-2787 or logging on at musicatmenlo.org.

Music@Menlo was launched in August 2002 with a one-weekend trial run; it grew into a three-week summer festival during the following three years, and includes concerts, lectures and master classes for young musicians.

The young musicians will be the first participants in the newly established Chamber Music Institute Residency.
