Menlo Watch: City calls on residents for help
(February 08, 2006) Menlo Park residents are invited to participate in workshops this week and next to help the city decide how to tackle a $2.9 million expected shortfall in the budget year starting July 1.
Participants will break up into small groups -- called "mini-city councils" -- and recommend which services to cut and revenues to raise.
The advice will be passed to the City Council, which makes the actual decisions.
Workshop times and places are:
** Thursday, February 9, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Belle Haven School cafeteria, 414 Ivy Drive.
** Saturday, February 11, from 9 a.m. to noon at Burgess Recreation Center, 701 Laurel St.
** Wednesday, February 15, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at La Entrada School, Jensen Hall, 2200 Sharon Road.
Child care and translators will be available.
For more information or to volunteer to be a workshop facilitator, call 330-6646, or e-mail: menloparkbudget@menlopark.org.
Council cancels meeting
The Menlo Park City Council will not hold its regular meeting on February 21, the day after President's Day. Meetings will resume February 28.
