Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen will talk about his new memoir at 7 p.m. Monday, April 25, at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View in an event co-sponsored by the museum and Kepler's bookstore.

In the memoir, "Idea Man," Allen discusses the early days of Microsoft, his battles with lymphoma, and the things he's learned, through trial and error, in his various endeavors.

It also draws a "dark portrait of his fellow co-founder and life-long friend" Bill Gates, in the words of "60 Minutes" (see interview).

Microsoft is not Allen's only claim to fame. He is also the owner of the Portland Trail Blazers basketball team and the Seattle Seahawks football team.

He also played a role in the field of private space travel with his involvement in SpaceShipOne, and founded the Allen Institute for Brain Science, a nonprofit institute dedicated to research on the human brain.

Allen will discuss his life and his life's projects in a conversation with the Pulitzer Prize-winning multimedia journalist Jose Antonio Vargas.

Tickets are $32 for one or $40 for two; the price includes a copy of the book.

Go to Kepler's to buy tickets, or purchase them by phone at 324-4321.

The Computer History Museum is at 1401 N. Shoreline Blvd. in Mountain View.
