Sacred Hearts Schools construction plan

A question was posted on Town Square about how Sacred Hearts Schools would rebuild its Lower & Middle School campus while students were attending classes.

Millie Lee, communications director for Sacred Heart Schools, provides the information below.

To prevent the least disruption to the students, faculty and staff for the next 18-plus months, the following plan has been devised:

● This summer (2011), two middle school buildings and the Foley Auditorium will be demolished.

● For the upcoming academic school year (2011-12), the Middle School students (grades 6-8) will be housed in 21 portable classrooms on Schimpf Field (corner of Emilie and Park). The Lower School students (grades 1-5) will remain in their current building during the construction of the new buildings. The students will be moved into the new buildings at the beginning of 2012/13 academic school year.

● During the fall of 2012, the Lower School building will be demolished, the portable classrooms removed, and construction of the new athletic fields will begin.

The project is expected to be completed by the spring of 2013.
