A memorial celebration of the life of Jason Picetti was held Saturday, Oct. 22, at La Entrada Middle School in Menlo Park, where he was a teacher. He died Oct. 13 at age 42 after a long illness.

At his family's request, a college fund has been created for Mr. Picetti's daughter.

A letter from friends said the medical bills and long-term costs of supporting Mr. Picetti, who had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, had devastated the family's finances.

Checks payable to "Vanguard 529 College Savings Plan" may be mailed to his wife Fehmeen at La Entrada Middle School, 2200 Sharon Park Road, Menlo Park CA 94025.

The family has also asked that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Las Lomitas Education Foundation.

I really feel sorry for Mrs. Picetti and Emma because Emma would not have a father to celebrate both their birthdays together.
