Elizabeth Lewis, who is completing her first term on the Atherton City Council, has signaled her intention to run for re-election. She pulled candidate papers at Town Hall on Tuesday (July 17), according to the town clerk.
Ms. Lewis is the first and only person to take out papers so far, according to Theresa DellaSanta, the town clerk and interim town manager. She has yet to file the papers, which would make her an official candidate, Ms. DellaSanta said Wednesday morning.
Ms. Lewis now serves as vice mayor, which makes it likely that she would be appointed for a one-year term as mayor in December if she wins re-election.
She also heads the town's ad hoc committee pursuing options to build a new Town Center.
