Tonight: Portola Valley council candidate forum

The public is invited to hear from Portola Valley Town Council candidates at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the Historic Schoolhouse at 765 Portola Road in Portola Valley. Three seats are open, with four candidates campaigning for election.

The League of Women Voters of South San Mateo County is sponsoring the forum. Written questions will be accepted from the audience.

Other election forums planned by the League are:

■ Menlo Park Fire Protection board, Thursday, Oct. 10, 7:30 p.m. Menlo Park City Council Chambers, 701 Laurel St., Menlo Park. Three seats are open, with five candidates campaigning for election. The fire district serves Menlo Park, Atherton, East Palo Alto and portions of unincorporated San Mateo County.

■ Atherton City Council, co-sponsored by the Atherton Civic Interest League, Tuesday, Oct. 15, 7 p.m. The Pavilion at Holbrook-Palmer Park, 150 Watkins Ave.
