In its ongoing celebration of being the oldest continually operating passenger railroad in the West, with 150 years of service, Caltrain will run a special train down the Peninsula on Saturday, Jan. 18, and hold a festival in Santa Clara.
The train, which members of the public can ride for free, will stop briefly at each of Caltrain's historic stations to leave a commemorative plaque recognizing the station's status on the National Register of Historic Landmarks.
The stop at the Menlo Park station, at 1120 Merrill St., will be from 10:28 to 10:33 a.m.
At the Santa Clara station there will be a festival of food, music and exhibits. The event observes the January 1864 completion of the line from San Francisco to San Jose.
