A community meeting is set for Saturday, April 26, on a proposed $12.5 million redesign for the Middlefield Road business district in the unincorporated area of North Fair Oaks, immediately north of the Atherton.
The meeting will run from 10 a.m. to noon at Garfield School, 3600 Middlefield Road.
Another community meeting on the project will be held Tuesday, April 29, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Fair Oaks Community Center, 2600 Middlefield Road, Redwood City.
The meetings are intended to help residents and community members contribute to the design of the Middlefield Road project, according to Ellie Dallman, San Mateo County's outreach coordinator. Parking, roadway design options, zoning, and public art opportunities will be discussed.
The first phase will involve undergrounding of utility lines and changes to the roadway, lighting, parking and street amenities on Middlefield Road between Fifth Avenue and Pacific Avenue. Other parts of the road will be included in later phases.
The county has formed a citizen's group, NFO Forward, to advise it on the project and others affecting the area. More information on the group is at NFOForward.org,
Refreshments, child care and Spanish interpretation will be available at both meetings.
