Submitted by Christopher Ball, parent of a player.

The California Crush, a third-grade girls basketball team made up of players from Menlo Park and Atherton, recently won the Pacific AAU girls basketball district championship in Reno, Nevada.

The team will now represent the Northern California/Northern Nevada District at the 2014 AAU girls basketball national tournament at the ESPN Worldwide Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida, from July 2 to 5.

Led by head coach Josh Brumm, the team is an elite AAU (Amateur Athletic Union of the U.S.) basketball team.

Hi my name is Jayci Brumm and I'm a member of the CA CRUSH, a third grace girls AAU basketball team. Our coach is Josh Brumm, my dad, and Adam Hopkins. Most of us have been playing together since first grade and we love to play and learn as a team. It is fun to travel with all my friends to Reno and all over California playing basketball. This year we will play in 13 tournaments and travel as a team to Orlando Florida and Las Vegas. We are so tough because our coaches make us practice with football pads to get tougher. I love playing on this team and practice all the time to be better. Go CRUSH! Win Nationals in Florida!!!
