Cabin fire 'knocked down' in Family Farm neighborhood

Firefighters at about 1:15 p.m. got control of and "knocked down" a roof fire of a single story cabin at the southern end of the Family Farm neighborhood of Woodside, the 1400 block of Portola Road.

The first descriptions at about 12:55 p.m. described smoke coming from the building and "a working fire" within, firefighters said.

Firefighters on the scene predicted that a ladder to the roof would be sufficient, and that the roof did not have to be opened up, or "ventilated," as firefighters put it.

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office reported that all occupants of the cabin were outside and accounted for.

Five fire engines and a battalion chief were among the vehicles the scene, as were Sheriff's Office deputies in squad cars.

A hydrant was said to be not too far away.
