Three potential candidates start process in Atherton

Two incumbents, Rick DeGolia and Bill Widmer, and Rose Hau, an architect who is vice chair of the Civic Center Advisory Committee, have taken the first steps toward becoming candidates for the Atherton City Council in the November election by taking out nomination papers.

Three seats on the five-member council will be on the ballot.

The council now has only four members. Jim Dobbie, whose term was to expire in November, resigned earlier this year due to poor health, and his unfilled seat is one of the three that voters will fill in the fall.

The deadline for filing is Friday, Aug. 8, except for races in which an eligible incumbent does not file. In that case, the filing period remains open until Aug. 13.

Sorry, the council does not have only four member. Less than a year ago, there was a special election. Rick DeGolia was elected to replace Jim Dobbie.

details, Rick Degolia was elected to the seat filled by the resignation of Jerry Carlson. The seat held by Jim Dobbie is empty since he resigned. What is fairly clear via the candidacy of Rose Hau is that Elizabeth Lewis (and her puppet master Didi Fisher) intends to control at least four out of five council seats.
