Goodbye to all that
Maybe before its time, or maybe not, arborists on Nov. 13, at the direction of the Town Council, cut down the Resurrection Tree. The old oak at Portola Valley's Ford Field had survived previous scrapes with imminent demise as it overlooked the home team dugout. The foliage showed vigor to the end but the massive trunk had long been hollow, decayed and dangerous, arborists said. Plans for the remains include laying out a portion of the trunk in the pasture to allow nature to take its course. Photo by Michelle Le/The Almanac.
