Four arrested in San Carlos home burglary

Bookmark and Share
Three East Palo Alto men and a 15-year-old boy were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of burglarizing a home in San Carlos, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

At about 11 a.m. Tuesday, sheriff's deputies responded to a call from a resident who reported seeing two men running down the driveway of a home in the 1000 block of Holly Street carrying various household items, sheriff's officials said.

Deputies entered the home and found that it had been ransacked.

The resident who reported the crime told investigators that the suspects had driven off in a red PT Cruiser, and was able to give a partial license plate number.

Less than an hour later, authorities spotted the car and pulled it over in East Palo Alto. Items that had been taken from the burglarized home in San Carlos were found inside the vehicle, according to the sheriff's office.

Four people in the car -- Jose Manuel Torres, 19, Agustin Lopez-Acosta, 18, Antonio Sotelo-Moreno, 22, and the 15-year-old boy -- were arrested on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy.

Additional stolen property was found in a subsequent search of the suspects' homes, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Anyone with information about this case or other burglaries in San Carlos is asked to contact San Mateo County sheriff's Detective Jonathan Sebring at (650) 363-4057.
