The Atherton City Council will be gathering and deliberating at Menlo College for its regular meeting on Wednesday, April 18. Among items on the agenda: proposed changes to the town's purchasing policies, consultant services for construction of a new library, and reinstatement of the town's Environmental Programs Committee.
The meeting starts at 7 p.m. on the campus at 1000 El Camino Real, in the Brawner Room #407 (PIT).
When he was elected mayor last December, Bill Widmer said one of his goals was increasing council meeting attendance by the town's residents. Holding the regular monthly meetings at other venues in town besides the Council Chambers was one strategy he was eager to try.
Mayor Widmer has been closely involved with helping to revise the ordinance governing purchasing to create more checks and balances, better cost efficiencies, and enhanced requirements for public works projects, among other revisions.
The revised ordinance will be introduced and possibly approved Wednesday night.
In addition to voting on the recommendation to approve Nova Partners as project manager of the library construction project, the council will be asked to amend the town's contract with Interwest Group for building and life safety services, revising the formula determining how the private contractor is paid; and the extension on a month-by-month basis of Interim Finance Director Debra Auker's contract.
