The crowded race for a seat on the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors has yet to thin out, but one of the eight candidates can now add the endorsement of the San Mateo County Democratic Central Committee to her list.
Shelly Masur got the nod, according to an announcement on April 20. The Redwood City school board member has been the leader in fundraising for the campaign to replace District 4 Supervisor Rose Jacobs Gibson, who terms out this year.
The top two vote-getters in the June 5 primary will face a runoff election in November.
The other candidates are Menlo Park council members Andy Cohen and Kirsten Keith; county school board member Guillermo "Memo" Morantes, also of Menlo Park; East Palo Alto council members Carlos Romero and David Woods; Redwood City Planning Commissioner Ernesto "Ernie" Schmidt; and former county clerk-recorder-assessor and chief elections officer Warren Slocum.

Posted by Who cares, a resident of the Menlo Park: other neighborhood, on Apr 26, 2012 at 2:31 pm The endorsement was so rigged only two of six democrats even applied for it. The real story is how has Masur, a school board member in Redwood City who came in third place last election, gained so much political juice so quickly?

Posted by Fact check, a resident of the Menlo Park: other neighborhood, on Apr 26, 2012 at 3:15 pm Correction, Masur is one of "seven" Democrats running. True, only two applied for the endorsement. Several voting members spoke in favor of the "other" Democrat getting the endorsement. Not a single individual spoke in favor of Masur, or against the "other" Democrat.
