Cary Wiest takes out papers for Atherton race

Bookmark and Share
Cary Wiest, who unsuccessfully ran for a seat on the Atherton City Council in 2010, has taken out candidacy papers for the November race for two council seats.

Mr. Wiest pulled papers today (July 20), and must file them by Aug. 10 to qualify as a candidate.

A real estate consultant who has lived in Atherton for about three years, Mr. Wiest was one of four candidates for three council seats two years ago, when Jerry Carlson and Jim Dobbie won re-election and Bill Widmer was elected to his first term.

His civic experience has included membership on the county's Vision 2025 Committee, its Jail Planning Advisory Committee, and its Charter Review Committee.

Only he and incumbent Elizabeth Lewis have taken out papers so far. No one has filed papers.

The council seat now held by Kathy McKeithen will also be filled by voters in November. Ms. McKeithen has not stated publicly whether she will run again.

Wiest will be a good voice on the council.

I am looking forward to voting for Cary & Elizabeth for the two open seats!
