On a quest to change the quality of life for Menlo Park's Belle Haven community, a group of residents has formed a new nonprofit, according to council candidate and co-founder Carolyn Clarke.
The Belle Haven Community Foundation will be a 501(c)(3) organization working to get the community engaged in reaching common goals, Ms. Clarke said, as a "diverse, educated, economically self-sustaining and empowered" full-service neighborhood. The foundation currently seeks start-up funding.
Its kick-off event takes place in collaboration with Mount Olive Church and the Menlo Park police on Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the church on 605 Hamilton Ave. and at nearby Hamilton Park as part of free "National Night Out" festivities.
