The Atherton City Council will meet at 6 p.m. tonight (Aug. 21) in a special open session -- the result of a citizen petition signed by more than 250 residents unhappy with the council's direction on issues related to town facilities.
One topic has already been decided with the council's decision to put a measure on the ballot asking voters whether a library should be built in the park.
Other agenda items invite the public to weigh in on where the library should be located; whether Atherton should withdraw from a joint powers authority overseeing libraries in the county; and whether the town should prepare, with public participation, a master plan for town-owned property and all town buildings and structures, existing or planned.
The Council Chambers are at 94 Ashfield Road, in the Town Center. Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.
