Menlo Park: Large hole in Sand Hill Road repaired
|
The intersection of Sand Hill Road and Sharon Park Drive in Menlo Park was closed for several hours Tuesday as crews repaired a large hole that opened up during a construction mishap.
A PG&E contractor was doing some excavation work for a pipeline project at the intersection Tuesday afternoon when the small hole created for the project grew larger, PG&E spokesman David Eisenhauer said.
Police said the resulting hole was about 12 feet in diameter. Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.

Posted by Ladera Cyclist, a resident of the Portola Valley: Ladera neighborhood, on Aug 30, 2012 at 1:25 pm The report makes it sound like a mystery! There was a construction 'mishap' and the 'small hole' grew larger.
Seems likely that either someone was given incorrect instructions or they hit some sort of void under the roadway.
It would be nice to actually be told what made the 'small hole' grow to be 12 feet in diameter.
Maybe SLAC was testing an anti-matter beam! :-)
