Author Bernie Krause discusses and signs his book "The Great Animal Orchestra: Finding the Origins of Music in the World's Wild Places," at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Kepler's, 1010 El Camino Real in Menlo Park.

In the book, he shares how animals rely on their aural habitat to survive and the damaging effects of extraneous noise on the delicate balance between predator and prey.
