Local music lovers who enjoy the monthly Mike Galisatus Big Band performances at Menlo Hub might want to check out his small ensemble's take on jazz standards at Portola Kitchen, where his quartet will perform on Thursday, Sept. 20.

The Mike Galisatus Quartet features top Bay Area musicians: Curt Moore on drums, Rich Girard on bass, and Larry Chinn on piano. And of course, there's Mr. Galisatus himself on trumpet and fluegelhorn.

The performance is set for 6:30 to 9 p.m., and there's no cover charge.

Portola Kitchen, formerly Mike's Cafe, opened in the Ladera Country Shopper this summer, with executive chef Guillaume Bienaime presiding over the kitchen.

The restaurant is at 3130 Alpine Road.
