Stolen bikes dominate Menlo Park theft reports

MENLO PARK
Theft reports:
■ Loss estimated at $2,000 in theft of bike locked to pole in front of apartment, Roble Ave., Sept. 8.
■ Loss estimated at $1,500 in theft of bicycle from apartment second-story balcony, Noel Drive, Sept. 9.
■ Loss estimated at $400 in theft of bike from fenced-in yard, Felton Drive, Sept. 13.
■ Loss estimated at $500 in theft of mountain bike parked on front porch, Willow Road, Sept. 8.
■ Loss estimated at $430 in theft of bike locked to pole in front of apartment, Laurel St., Sept. 8.
■ Loss estimated at $1,820 is theft of laptop computer from unlocked vehicle, 100 block of El Camino Real, Sept. 8.
Residential burglary reports:
■ Losses estimated at $2,700 in break-in by removing screen from unlocked rear window and theft of laptop computer, Apple iPod, DVD player, electric shaver, three men's watches, Modoc Ave., Sept. 7.
■ Losses estimated at $1,820 in break-in through open window and theft of laptop computer, purse, clothing and $1,000 in cash, Terminal Ave., Sept. 8.
Commercial burglary report: Unpaid for bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey recovered and suspect arrested, Safeway Supermarket at 525 El Camino Real, Sept. 11.
Bank fraud report: Cambridge Ave., Sept. 11.
Spouse abuse report: Carlton Ave., Sept. 12.
Child abuse report: East Bayshore Road and Lincoln Ave., Sept. 11.

Posted by Shelly, a resident of the Menlo Park: Stanford Hills neighborhood, on Sep 19, 2012 at 3:48 pm They wouldn't steal the bikes if they didn't have a way of selling them. My guess is the thieves aren't stupid enough to list them on Craigslist.
