Tonight: 'Story of Courage in Holocaust'
|
Submitted by Jeanne Cooper, community service chair, St. Bede's Episcopal Church, Menlo Park.
St. Bede's Episcopal Church in Menlo Park is hosting a free talk by Marty Brounstein, author of "Two Among the Righteous Few: A Story of Courage in the Holocaust," at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, with a free reception and book signing afterward.
The book relates the true story of Dutch Catholic farmers who hid 24 Jews from the Nazis.
There's also an optional simple supper at 6 p.m. for which donations will benefit San Mateo County's interfaith shelter program Home and Hope. Parishioners from St. Bede's help Congregation Beth Jacob in Redwood City by making dinner and serving as overnight hosts when the latter provides shelter to families in Home and Hope program every two to three months.
The public is invited to the talk. People only need to RSVP for dinner at (650) 854-6555 or jcooper@stbedesmenlopark.org.
The church is at 2650 Sand Hill Road in Menlo Park.
