Su Hong: a work in progress?

Su Hong regulars, don't despair. Bee King, owner of the venerable Chinese restaurant at 1039 El Camino Real in Menlo Park, says the restaurant will reopen when she is able to assemble a competent staff.
She says she has been running help-wanted ads in Chinese-American newspapers, and having a hard time trying to find qualified people. Many former employees have relocated and it is difficult to find workers willing to commute to Menlo Park.
"If we were in San Francisco or San Jose we wouldn't have a problem, but when we say Menlo Park, they say 'Oh, it's too far away.'"
Su Hong closed June 13 after 35 years in business. At the time Ms. King said the restaurant was closing for remodeling. The kitchen has now been renovated, she says. The dining rooms will remain the same. Su Hong ToGo at 630 Menlo Ave. in Menlo Park remains open for business.

Posted by whatever, a resident of the Menlo Park: Central Menlo Park neighborhood, on Oct 13, 2012 at 4:39 pm The potential workers must have seen the articles about the stand-still traffic on ECR and decided they didn't need the additional hour of travel time after reaching the borders of Menlo Park.

Posted by RW, a resident of another community, on Oct 15, 2012 at 8:06 am I work in Menlo Park and commute from Santa Clara. A number of my co-workers commute from San Francisco. But, we don't read "help-wanted ads in Chinese-American newspapers". Maybe she could reach out to other demographics for potential employees.

We bought take out for Saturday dinner and it was horrible - not even edible. Never again!
