Tonight: Portola Valley talk on sustainable eating

Bookmark and Share
Amy Cox, an advocate for green and sustainable living in suburban communities, will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Community Hall at the Town Center, 765 Portola Road in Portola Valley.

Ms. Cox's talk, "Eating Local: Benefits that Extend Beyond the Palate & the Plate," will address the practice of eating fresh locally grown food that is also in season, and how eating in this way supports a local and sustainable agricultural community.

Ms. Cox is the founder of Chicago-based "subURBAN homestead," which offers lectures, classes and events for organized groups, including corporations, associations, students and nonprofits.

This free program is part of the Tuesday Harvest series of environmental talks in Portola Valley. The town of Portola Valley does not endorse speakers in the series or the information they disclose.

For more information, contact Brandi de Garmeaux, the town's sustainability and resource efficiency coordinator, at 851-1700, ext. 222, or at bdegarmeaux@portolavalley.net.
