Obituary: Dorothy Cartan of Menlo Park

 | Dorothy Mary Bjorkland Cartan of Menlo Park died peacefully at home on Sept. 24. She was 87.
Ms. Cartan was a first-generation American born to Swedish parents in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1943.
During World War II, she moved to California. A community leader and philanthropist, Ms. Cartan was known for her sense of humor and compassion, say family members. She was married for 32 years to Henry Cartan of Atherton. Mr. Cartan died in 2001.
Ms. Cartan is survived by children Leslie Shackleford, Linda Philpin, Karen Dunton, Henry Cartan IV, James Cartan, and Ian Cartan; brother Richard Bjorkland; and two grandchildren.

Posted by Tony Lucio, a resident of the Menlo Park: other neighborhood, on Nov 20, 2012 at 8:28 pm Mrs Cartan was the nicest and most inspiring Person I ever met, She always smiled and was so fun to talked with, We always talked about Family and Friends, She really Loved life ! She always made feel so special , I'll miss her dearly. Bless Her In Heavens Above, She will always be My Angel in Heaven watching over Me. Thank You Sweat Lord for blessing Me with Her Friendship . God Bless The Cartan Family, She will always be remembered
