 | The Menlo College women's volleyball team clinched the Cal Pac Conference regular-season title Thursday night with a 25-12, 25-11, 25-20 victory over visiting Pacific Union.
Sophomore Courtney Calicdan recorded a match-high 14 kills and .407 hitting percentage as the Oaks (7-0, 13-6) clinched their first title in three years.
"It's kind of hard to get too excited just because we know we have the postseason tournament coming up, so we just checked the first thing off of our list of goals that we wanted to accomplish," Menlo coach Daniel Rasay said. "We are focused and ready to check something else off in the upcoming weeks."
Menlo senior Camille Miller had a .417 hitting percentage on six kills.
"It just feels so great," Miller said. "We had a meeting at the beginning of our season and this was one of our main goals. We all wanted this and we worked really hard for it."
Senior Mika Mendoza produced a match-high 19 digs, while senior Stephenie Monderine led the Lady Oaks with 18 assists.
Menlo will now turn its sights on its remaining regular season conference tilts, as the Oaks are just two wins away from an undefeated Cal Pac record. On Friday, October 26th Menlo will travel to UC Merced, before closing out the regular season on Friday, November 2nd with a home affair against William Jessup. — Palo Alto Online Sports Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition?
