Deputies from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office reported two recent property crimes involving high five-figure losses, one in Portola Valley and the other in Woodside.

On Nov. 27, deputies reported the theft from a home in the 200 block of Golden Hills Drive in Portola Valley of 18 place settings of Buccellatti sterling silverware with an estimated value of $30,000. The silverware set was 10 years old and stored in a cabinet near the dining room, deputies said.

In a report dated Nov. 28, deputies reported estimated losses of $59,000 in a grand theft case in the 3000 block of Woodside Road. Thieves stole copper pipe from a drainage ditch and miscellaneous items from an unlocked barn, including tools, construction equipment and construction materials.
