Pilot lands safely without landing gear

A pilot of a small aircraft was unhurt after he landed without landing gear at the San Carlos Airport on Saturday morning (Jan. 12) , a San Mateo County sheriff's deputy said.
Around 9:30 a.m. a 56-year-old pilot took off from San Luis Obispo in a Mooney M20J plane headed for San Carlos. As he touched down on the runway at the San Carlos airport around 11:20 a.m., the pilot realized that his landing wheels were still up, Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt said.
The pilot, a resident of the San Luis Obispo County community of Los Osos, was able to land safety without the landing gear and was uninjured, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The airport closed while crews moved the plane off the runway and has since reopened.

I heard that one of the giant military cargo jets that land at Travis Air Force Base out at Fairfield once forgot to lower the wheels and had a surprise landing.

I forgot to put the gear down. He waited until the very last minute and then yelled at me to do a go-around. And, upon landing, he yelled at me for another 30 minutes. Obviously, fifty years later, I have never forgotten this.
I guess there was no one to yell at the pilot in this Mooney M20J. He's lucky he didn't flip and kill himself.
