Saturday, Jan. 19, is the deadline to register for tryouts for the upcoming Palo Alto Babe Ruth baseball season. Tryouts will be held Jan. 19 and 27, depending on the weather.

Residents of Menlo Park, Atherton, Woodside, Portola Valley and East Palo Alto, as well as Palo Alto, are eligible. Players must be 13, but not older than 15, by May 1.

There are two leagues: Prep for 13-year-olds and 15U for 14- and 15-year-olds. Both leagues play a short busy season, culminating in a championship tournament.
