Caltrain delays continue after train hits truck
No injuries reported
|
Caltrain is experiencing system-wide delays this afternoon after a train struck a tractor-trailer on the tracks in San Bruno, a transit agency spokeswoman said.
A southbound train struck the vehicle at a track crossing at Angus Avenue at about 2:30 p.m., Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn said. No injuries were reported, she said.
Emergency crews have responded and are working to clear the tracks.
As of 3:45 p.m., trains were running up to 50 minutes behind schedule and were expected to have to single-track around the collision site for another two hours, according to Caltrain.
Passengers on the disabled southbound train were transferred onto another train at the San Bruno station.

Posted by resident, a resident of the Menlo Park: Downtown neighborhood, on Feb 11, 2013 at 4:58 pm Please please please, do not ever stop your vehicle on the train tracks. Do not cross the tracks unless you can see there is enough room for your entire vehicle on the other side of the tracks. If the traffic light turns red while you are on the tracks for some reason, it is safer to run the red light than to remain stopped on the train tracks. Collisions like this should never happen if drivers are competent.
Aren't truck drivers supposed to have extra training and extra testing? I hope this driver gets his license pulled after this stunt.
Glad he didn't derail the train and kill the passengers.
