Wednesday: Beechwood celebrates renewal after fire
Students to perform play about making a difference
|
On Wednesday (Feb. 20), students at Beechwood School will perform a play about kids making a difference.
The school, a private nonprofit K-8 facility at 50 Terminal Ave. in Menlo Park, is recovering from a fire in September that did $400,000 in damage to the administrative building and third-grade classroom.
"Project:Peace," by Roger Emerson and choreography by John Jacobsen, is centered around the idea that even children can change the world. The work includes songs about putting a stop to bullying, ending gun violence in schools, conquering intolerance and hate, and working together to find solutions, according to Emilee Getter, music and drama director at Beechwood.
The free performance starts at 6:30 p.m. in the theater at Eastside Preparatory School in East Palo Alto at 1041 Myrtle Street.
