Art in Action, a Menlo Park-based nonprofit dedicated to bringing visual arts education to children in the classroom, will culminate a year-long celebration of its 30th anniversary with a luncheon event on Monday, March 4, at the Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club in Menlo Park.

This is the fifth year for the event, known as Atelier d'Artistes. It will feature student artists, a silent auction, and a talk by Craig Watson, director of the California Arts Council.

Mr. Watson will describe his vision of the arts in California and discuss his new initiative, CREATE CA, designed to provide "an educational environment for all California students that features arts education as a central part of the solution to the crisis in our schools," he said.

Carolyn Johnson, co-anchor of ABC7 News and an Art in Action docent, will be master of ceremonies.

At the silent auction, people can bid on private art tours and original artwork created by local artists. Student artists from Abbott Middle School in San Mateo will be at the event to share their art experiences.
