Work by Menlo Park artist Mitchell Johnson is on exhibit through Dec. 1 at the Anita Seipp Gallery at Castilleja School, 1311 Emerson St. in Palo Alto.

Mr. Johnson's exhibit, "Concerning Color," will feature mostly new, large-scale works, both representational and abstract.

Curator Deborah Trilling writes in the show's catalogue that Mr. Johnson's paintings, "whether large or small, represent a consistent conversation: a dialogue between color, space, texture and form. ... Mitchell's intriguing paintings feed our souls and quench our thirst for authentic aesthetic nourishment."

Mr. Johnson has had solo exhibits across the country and in Italy and France. He spends part of each year living and painting in Europe, spending much of his time in the Tuscan town of Buonconvento.

The public can view his work at the Anita Seipp Gallery Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
