Share
Danny Diekroger completed 19 of 27 passes for 311 yards and two touchdowns to spark the Menlo School football team to a big 21-14 victory over first-place Burlingame on in a PAL Ocean Division football game on Friday night.

The host Panthers came into the game sitting atop the standings and appeared to leave the game with its unbeaten division record intact along with its winning streak.

The Knights (2-2, 5-3), however, denied Burlingame (3-1, 6-2) with a goal-line stand, converted a fake punt from their own endzone and then got a 59-yard touchdown pass from Diekroeger to earn the victory.

With the game tied at 14, Diekroeger faked a punt from his endzone and fired a 31-yarder to Clay Robbins for a shocking first down at Menlo's 41 with just 1:48 left to play. Robbins finished the game with 10 receptions for 194 yards and one TD.

One play later, Diekroeger escaped the grasp of a Burlingame pass rusher and fired another pass to Robbins, who hauled it in for the winning score with 1:27 remaining. Burlingame advanced past midfield, but Menlo's Tim Benton intercepted pass to secure the victory.
